Gentengisasi Starts This Year, the Palace Acknowledges that the Technical Scheme is Still Being Discussed

JAKARTA - The "Gentengisasi" program delivered by the President at the Rakornas does not stop at replacing zinc roofs. The government is leading the face of the city - from the roof of the house, garbage, billboards, to tangled cables - although the technical and financing schemes are still being discussed.

The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that this step was inspired by the President's encouragement for the tourism sector to be supported by cleanliness and environmental beauty. "It's not just gentengisasinya, but a small part of the effort to maintain cleanliness and beauty," he said at the Presidential Palace complex, Tuesday, February 3.

He emphasized that the direction had been discussed in a number of meetings before the Rakornas. Several ministries were asked to prepare technical aspects, including tile production technology if needed in large quantities.

However, the details of the implementation are not final. The funding scheme and technical mechanisms are still being formulated across ministries. The government is open to the possibility of private and community involvement, not solely relying on the state budget or APBD.

The government hopes that this program will start this year. The target is not only the roof, but also the improvement of urban planning so that it is more neat and attractive for foreign tourists.
