KPK to Present Experts from Kejaksaan Agung During Paulus Tannos' Trial in Singapore

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will present expert witnesses from the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) in a follow-up hearing related to the extradition of the suspect in the electronic identity card (e-KTP) procurement project corruption case, Paulus Tannos.

KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said the trial was planned to be held on February 4-5 in Singapore. The agenda is to listen to the testimony of experts submitted by the KPK.

"In the trial, the KPK presented experts from the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia, namely the Deputy Attorney General for Civil and Administrative Affairs (Jamdatun) Prof. Dr. R. Narendra Jatna, S.H., LL. M," Budi told reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, February 3.

Budi said this trial was a continuation of the extradition process which was filed since February 20, 2025.

"The KPK as a law enforcement agency handling this case, also proactively completes the required documents, such as formal requests, certificate of authentication, summary of facts, charge (sheet), investigator affidavit, prosecutor affidavit, arrest warrant, written confirmation form AG, and annexes," he said.

"We remain focused and committed to continuing all necessary legal steps, including intensive coordination with law enforcement and related authorities both at home and abroad, so that the extradition process can proceed in accordance with applicable legal provisions," he continued.

Furthermore, Budi also stated that this extradition process would not be affected by the pre-trial submission by the businessman. The process goes hand in hand, he said.

"We are sure that this pretrial will not hinder the extradition process against DPO Paulus Tannos, which is still ongoing."

Paulus Tannos is known to have filed a pretrial lawsuit again on Wednesday, January 28 and was registered with case number 11/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL. The first trial will be held on Monday, February 9.

Paulus Tannos, who is the Director of PT Sandipala Arthapura, had previously filed a pretrial lawsuit in 2025. However, the application was declared inadmissible by the Single Judge at the Jaksel PN.

In his consideration, the judge considered that the pretrial motion was an error in objecto and was premature. Thus, the investigation of the corruption case that ensnared Paulus Tannos continued.

As a reminder, Paulus Tannos was named a new suspect in the development of the investigation into the electronic KTP procurement corruption case on August 13, 2019. The KPK revealed the state's financial losses in the case of around Rp. 2.3 trillion.

However, Paulus Tannos fled abroad and changed his identity to Thian Po Tjhin. He was included in the KPK's wanted list (DPO) or fugitive since October 19, 2021.

Paulus was then arrested in Singapore in early January 2025. The current extradition process is still being carried out in accordance with the agreement signed by Indonesia and Singapore.
