Progress of the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Road Reaches 71.07 Percent by the End of January 2026
JAKARTA - The construction of the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Road continues to show significant progress. As of the end of January 2026, the construction progress of the 30.8 kilometer (km) toll road has reached 71.07 percent.
Director of Operations III HKI Aditya Novendra Jaya said that the strategic project was carried out by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur (HKI) as part of the development of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS).
"We continue the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) construction project, especially the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Road along 30.8 km which connects the Pekanbaru-Dumai Toll Road and the Pekanbaru-Bangkinang Toll Road," said Aditya as quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, February 3.
In addition to focusing on accelerating development, HKI emphasized its commitment to the quality of work, occupational safety, and the application of environmental, social and governance principles or Enviromental, Social and Governance (ESG).
Aditya explained that in the implementation of the project, his party implemented two flagship programs, Quality, Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (QHSSE), namely the QHSSE Plan and the QHSSE Pass.
The QHSSE Plan ensures that all materials and work methods are in accordance with standards, while the QHSSE Pass serves to verify that the work that has been completed meets quality and safety aspects.
"The safety of workers and the quality of work are our commitment in every project," he said.
HKI also integrates national and international quality management systems, occupational safety and health (K3).
This step is taken to ensure that the development target is optimally achieved in terms of quality, time and cost, as well as reducing the risk of work accidents with a zero fatality target.
In terms of environmental sustainability, the implementation of ESG principles is a major concern. One of them is realized through the construction of the Siak Bridge which uses the balance cantilever method without supporting pillars under the bridge.
The method was chosen to maintain the sustainability of the river ecosystem and the surrounding environment.
In addition, HKI also applies the technique of removing trees in the affected areas of construction to be replanted, as an effort to maintain green open spaces and support nature conservation.
"We are committed not only to producing quality construction, but also to ensuring environmental sustainability," he said.
The integration of ESG principles is expected to contribute positively to Riau's economic growth and serve as an example of responsible infrastructure development.
The existence of the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Road is also expected to be able to improve the smoothness of transportation flows, strengthen regional connectivity in Sumatra and encourage economic growth and investment activities in Riau.
"We ensure that the development of this project continues to run according to target while still prioritizing safety, quality and sustainability aspects," he added.
