PPATK Head: If it wasn't for Prabowo's firmness, we would never have achieved the history of reducing online gambling
Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana explained the achievements related to eradicating online gambling. He said, thanks to the firmness of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia has made history in reducing the number of online gambling crime transactions.
"If it wasn't for the firmness of our President, Mr. Prabowo Subianto, we would never have been able to achieve the history of reducing online gambling because the pressure was really huge," said Ivan at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 3.
According to Ivan, the progress of fintech, crypto and all kinds of online gambling potential will continue to rise to reach Rp. 1,100 trillion. However, he said, PPATK continues to synergize with related ministries and agencies such as the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) to slow down the rate of gambling transactions.
"That's our prediction and it's never wrong. But because of the synergy and solidity between our institutions, Komdigi and all kinds of things according to their respective directions in accordance with the direction of our President, we can suppress it to less than Rp300 trillion, Rp289 trillion," he said.
"That is much less than last year. Last year it continued to rise from 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 continued to rise and we pressed it to Rp. 286 trillion, it saved a lot of our brothers and sisters out there," he continued.
Then, regarding Green Financial Crime (GFC), PPATK has been conducting research on Green Financial Crime since 2020.
"Our data on the turnover of the GFC since 2020 is not Rp992 trillion but Rp1,700 trillion. Rp992 trillion is only what we reported in the past 2020-2025," he said.
"We already have the results of the research, we even have the GFC for which regions including the Sumatra region and all kinds of things we have. This means that the results of this research can predict what will happen next regarding natural disasters and all kinds of recommendations," concluded Ivan.
