Garuda Indonesia Opens New Technology Options, President Presses for Advanced Aircraft Adaptation
JAKARTA - In the future, Garuda Indonesia's fleet will begin to be touched by cutting-edge technology. This emerged after the meeting between Garuda President Director Glenny Kairupan and President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Monday, February 2.
Glenny said the discussion focused on the development of global aircraft technology and Indonesia's position in the midst of the aviation industry's leap. The discussion also involved the ranks of aircraft manufacturers from Brazil, Embraer, which is known for aggressively developing new generation flight efficiency and technology.
"What is discussed is aviation technology, how we are involved in the development," said Glenny. When asked if he would buy a plane from Brazil, Embraer, he confirmed that there had been no talks about buying planes. The stage is still coordination and exchange of views on the direction of world technology.
The President's message is clear. Indonesia must not be left behind. National airlines are asked to follow the rhythm of global innovation, from engine efficiency to modern aircraft systems. This message is important amid pressure on airline operating costs and demands for fuel efficiency.
The meeting illustrates that Garuda's improvement is not only about finances, but also technological readiness. It seems that the policy direction is beginning to target the long-term competitiveness of the national aviation industry.
