Prabowo Invites Islamic Organizations to the Palace to Discuss Trump's Board of Peace
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto invited representatives of a number of Islamic community organizations (ormas), including PBNU, Muhammadiyah, and MUI, to the Presidential Palace, Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon.
Prabowo will discuss Indonesia's membership in the Gaza Peace Council/Board of Peace (BoP) launched by US President Donald Trump.
Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Cholil Nafis confirmed to reporters when contacted in Jakarta, Tuesday morning, the invitation related to the meeting with President Prabowo today.
"Yes, I was also invited this afternoon. What came to me (information about the agenda of the discussion meeting, ed.) about the BoP," said Kiai Cholil as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, February 3.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama General Board (Sekjen PBNU) Saifullah Yusuf, who is also the Minister of Social Affairs, also confirmed the invitation related to the meeting with President Prabowo at the Palace this afternoon.
"Yes, there is indeed an agenda at 14.00 WIB," said Gus Ipul, a nickname for Saifullah.
Then, the Secretary General of the Central Executive Committee of Muhammadiyah, Abdul Mu'ti, also confirmed the invitation related to the agenda of the meeting at the Palace with President Prabowo this afternoon.
"From Muhammadiyah, Prof. Syafiq Mughni and I will be present," said Abdul Mu'ti when answering a journalist's question.
Prof. Syafiq A. Mughni currently serves as the Chairman of the PP Muhammadiyah.
The Gaza Peace Council was officially launched on the sidelines of the 2026 World Economic Forum (WEF) event in Davos, Switzerland, on January 22, 2026. The launch of the Board of Peace was led by US President Donald Trump Jr., and was attended by a number of member state leaders including President Prabowo Subianto.
In the event, President Prabowo was also one of the leaders of the country who signed the charter of the establishment of the Board of Peace Gaza.
"I think this is a historic opportunity. This is a historic opportunity. This is really an opportunity to achieve peace in Gaza," said President Prabowo in response to a journalist's question after attending the launch of the Peace Council in Davos, Switzerland, Thursday.
"What is clear is that the suffering of the people in Gaza has been reduced, very reduced. Humanitarian aid is so large, so fast. I really hope, and Indonesia is ready to participate," continued President Prabowo.
According to Prabowo, the countries that are members of the Peace Council are those who want to help the Palestinian people in Gaza. These countries are also those who want peace in Gaza.
"Who wants peace (there, red.), who wants to help the people of Gaza, the Palestinian people (there in the council, red.)," said President Prabowo in response to a journalist's question.
Apart from Indonesia, other countries that also signed the Peace Council charter include Hungary, Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Kosovo, Mongolia, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Uzbekistan.
