DPR Appreciates Sido Muncul for Being Able to Develop Herbal Based on Scientific Approach with Pharmaceutical Standards

JAKARTA - Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives appreciates the development of the traditional pharmaceutical industry which is able to survive by optimizing the potential of raw materials from within the country.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Evita Nursanty, while leading a working visit to the PT Sido Muncul factory in Semarang Regency, Central Java, Friday, January 30, said that traditional pharmaceutical industries did not experience difficulties in obtaining raw materials.

"The potential for raw materials for the herbal industry in Indonesia is extraordinary, it's just how to market it," he said, quoted by Antara.

In fact, the constraints in the fulfillment of raw materials, he continued, were experienced by the chemical pharmaceutical industry.

During the visit, according to him, Commission VII of the DPR inventoried various problems faced by the pharmaceutical industry.

The operation of the Sido Muncul factory, he said, is really sophisticated and guaranteed hygiene.

"This company did not lay off employees even though the work of its employees was replaced by machines," he said.

After conducting a problem shopping in the traditional pharmaceutical industry, he continued, Commission VII of the DPR will visit the chemical pharmaceutical industry to find out the problems faced by

Meanwhile, PT Sido Muncul Director Irwan Hidayat said this herbal industry was built with standardization like the pharmaceutical industry.

In carrying out his business, he asked the government to provide guidance and protection to the actors in the herbal pharmaceutical industry.

"We are building this herbal industry into a trust industry," he said.
