Involved in Illegal Racing, 16 Motor Residents Arrested at East Jakarta Police

JAKARTA - The East Jakarta Metro Police has taken action against illegal racing during the first week of the Jaya 2026 Public Health Operation (Pekat) in the area.

"In the 2026 Operation Pekat Jaya activities in the East Jakarta area, still in the enforcement or repressive activities, we have also taken action on one incident of an indication of illegal racing," said East Jakarta Metro Police Chief AKBP Achmad Akbar at a press conference at the East Jakarta Metro Police, Monday.

Akbar said that his party continued to intensify the treatment of various forms of community diseases through the implementation of Operation Pekat Jaya 2026.

The action was carried out as part of the police's repressive measures to maintain public order and security.

In the incident, officers conducted an inspection of a number of vehicles suspected of being involved in illegal racing activities.

"Still in the form of enforcement or repressive activities, we have taken action on one incident of an indication of illegal racing. In this activity, we took action against the vehicle used," he said.

From the results of the examination carried out by personnel from the East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit, a total of 16 vehicles were secured for further action.

The vehicles are suspected of being used in activities that endanger the safety of other road users and disrupt public order.

Akbar explained that in general, the East Jakarta Metro Police is carrying out the 2026 Pekat Jaya Operation, which is a centralized police operation from the Polda Metro Jaya.

This operation targets various forms of community diseases, including illegal racing, fights, gambling, illegal liquor distribution, and other criminal acts.

In its implementation, Operation Pekat Jaya 2026 not only involves the police, but is also supported by various related elements.

The East Jakarta Metro Police (Jaktim) synergized with the ranks of the Polda Metro Jaya, the East Jakarta Administration City Government and Kodim 0505 East Jakarta.

Operation Pekat Jaya 2026 was carried out for 15 days, starting from January 28, 2026 to February 11, 2026.

During this period, the police will continue to carry out preventive and repressive activities to create a safe and conducive kamtibmas situation, especially ahead of various community agendas.

Akbar also appealed to the public to play an active role in maintaining environmental security and reporting if they find activities that have the potential to disrupt public order.

In addition to illegal racing, the East Jakarta Metro Police secured 27 people who were suspected of fighting in the first week of the 2026 Pekat Jaya Operation.

Of the 27 people who were secured, 20 of them are still in the children's category, while the other seven have entered the adult category.

Regarding the 20 children who were secured, the police applied a selective and coaching-oriented handling.

Of these, two children were processed in accordance with applicable laws. Meanwhile, the other 18 children were given comprehensive guidance.

Meanwhile, for the seven adults who were also secured, the police also conducted training involving community elements in their respective neighborhoods.
