Ukrainian Drone Attack on Russian Border Region Kills Civilians

JAKARTA - A Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian border region of Belgorod killed two civilians, the region's governor said on Monday.

"The attack on Sunday night hit a house that was on fire and partially collapsed in the city of Stary Oskol, north of the Ukrainian border," Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Telegram.

"The rescue team working at the scene found the bodies of two people," Governor Gladkov wrote, as reported by Al Arabiya from AFP (2/2).

In response to near-daily bombings by Moscow in the nearly four-year-old war, Ukraine has sent drones into Russian territory to target energy sectors.

Meanwhile, Russia has destroyed Ukraine's electricity and heating infrastructure, plunging residents into darkness and cold as temperatures dropped to -20 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, a Russian drone attack on a bus carrying miners in the Dnipropetrovsk region of southeast Ukraine killed at least 12 people.
