Polda Metro Jaya Holds Jaya Safety Operation 2026, Main Target Drivers Against the Flow
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya held an appeal for the 2026 Safety Operation from February 2 to 15, 2026 by deploying as many as 2,939 joint personnel with the aim of increasing awareness and compliance of the public to traffic and reducing the number of violations, accidents, and fatalities.
This was conveyed by the Head of the Metro Jaya Police, Brigadier General Dekananto Eko Purwono, while leading the troops' appeal, at the Precision Field of the Metro Jaya Police, Jakarta, February 2, 2026 morning.
He said that ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, people's mobility tends to increase and has a direct impact on traffic density and the potential for violations and accidents.
"The DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings as the center of national activities are the showcase of the nation, so that the condition of orderly and safe traffic is a reflection of discipline and culture of the community," he said.
The dean of the police emphasized that in its implementation, the police prioritized preemptive and preventive steps, accompanied by proportionate law enforcement.
In addition, education and socialization are also carried out continuously, with an increase in the presence of personnel at vulnerable points. Enforcement is supported by static and mobile ETLE, precision patrol drones, and effective and humane manual enforcement.
"This operation is not intended to find mistakes. I repeat, this operation is not intended to find mistakes, but to build a culture of orderly traffic for the sake of mutual safety," he said.
In addition, the Director of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police, Komarudin, explained that in this operation, 10 traffic violation targets were targeted which were considered high-risk for the safety of road users.
He said, based on police data, the growth of vehicles in Jakarta throughout 2025 reached more than 732 thousand units, so that the total registered vehicles now reached 25 million units.
This surge is not matched by the level of compliance of motorists, so the number of violations and accidents is still a problem. Therefore, the Polda Metro Jaya held the Jaya Safety Operation.
"Where will we target violations that have the potential or impact on the threat to the safety of other road users," said Komarudin.
He explained that the main target of the operation was violations against the flow, especially on road sections where the practice was often found.
Other violations targeted include exceeding the speed limit, underage drivers, not using helmets, brong exhaust, and using TNKB not in accordance with regulations, including fake TNKB and TNKB agencies/ministries.
"There are also many uses of TNKB or vehicles that use TNKB which can be said to be false, yes. We have found many ministries/institutions using TNKB, we will target this. However, it is not the main priority," he said.
