Handling of Sludge and Post-Flood Material Cleaning in Aceh 100 Locations

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) said that the handling of post-flood mud and material cleaning in Aceh has not been fully completed. The handling of mud and material disaster cleaning is carried out in 203 affected locations in Aceh Province, with 103 details completed and the other 100 are still being handled.

"Meanwhile, 100 other locations are still in the process of being handled, including public facilities, offices, schools, houses of worship, markets and health facilities," said Dody, quoted from an official statement, Monday, February 2.

Dody explained that as many as 815 personnel are still working to help handle flash floods in Aceh Province, consisting of 355 PU personnel and 460 BUMN personnel, supported by 581 TNI personnel and the community.

The handling is supported by 1,044 units of heavy equipment (224 units owned by PU and 820 units of BUMN partners) and 2,447 units of disaster materials, including geobags, aramco and steel sheet piles.

The PU Ministry is also still providing emergency infrastructure services to meet clean water and sanitation needs of 301 units in Aceh Province, including 15 IPA Mobile, 17 water tankers, 123 public hydrants, 49 portable toilets, 30 emergency toilets, 46 towers, and four IPA RO units.

In the road and bridge sector, the PU Ministry also carried out handling with a 38-kilometer national road affected in Aceh and all of which are functional, including two sections through alternative roads.

A total of 16 national bridges were cut off and are now functional, with details of some using bailey bridges and eight bridges have been permanently constructed.

Not only that, the PU Ministry also handles 71 SPAM affected in 10 districts/cities in Aceh with a total capacity of 2,177 liters per second. Until now, 54 SPAM have returned to function with a service capacity of 1,595 liters per second.

In addition, 24 deep water boreholes were built, with 10 units completed and 14 units in the process of being worked on, as well as the construction of additional shallow and deep boreholes to meet the needs of affected communities for clean water.

Furthermore, said Dody, his party has also increased the services of 11 waste landfills and 10 IPLT in Aceh which are currently in the implementation phase. In addition, cleaning and transportation of garbage and flood mud have been carried out with a total of more than 698 tons from residential areas, public facilities, hospitals to main road access in several affected districts.

For temporary housing (huntara), the PU Ministry has also built 11 huntara house locations in four districts of Aceh with a total of 972 KK beneficiaries. Until now, 84 KK have occupied the residence with a 100 percent progress, while the other locations are still in the stage of gradual construction.

"We are fully committed to supporting the local government in all stages of post-disaster handling," he added.

Meanwhile, the Aceh Provincial Government (Pemprov) has determined the transition status from the emergency response period to the recovery period of hydrometeorological disasters through the Aceh Governor's Decree Number 300.2/69/2026, effective from January 30 to April 29, 2026.

The status includes 14 districts/cities affected by the disaster, namely Langsa City: East Aceh; Lhokseumawe City; Bireuen; Pidie; South Aceh; Gayo Lues; Bener Meriah; Subulussalam City; Aceh Singkil; South Aceh; Nagan Raya; West Aceh; and Aceh Besar, as the basis for the implementation of further handling towards recovery.
