Progress is 82 Percent, MRT Glodok-Kota is Targeted to be Completed by Mid-2027

JAKARTA - The progress of the Jakarta subway line continues to show a positive trend.

PT Hutama Karya (Persero) reported that the progress of the Glodok MRT Station and Kota MRT Station has now reached 82 percent.

The project, which is a vital part of the development of MRT Jakarta Phase 2A, is targeted to be completed in the first half of 2027.

Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Mardiansyah revealed that the work in the field is currently focused on completing the details of the structure and supporting systems of the station.

"As of Wednesday, January 28, we have recorded 82 percent progress. A number of works are being carried out on the entrance structure, architectural works and station mep. Its presence will later provide real benefits for the mobility of residents and the arrangement of urban public transportation," said Mardiansyah in an official statement Monday, February 2.

The project includes the construction of a corridor along 1.33 kilometers (km) connecting Mangga Besar MRT Station to Jakarta Kota MRT Station.

As part of the CP 203 contract package, the construction carries a major mission, namely, strengthening connectivity in the Old City area while providing a more orderly and efficient transportation option.

Considering that it is located in the heart of a dense city center, the development of this transportation mode is not only focused on the train line, but also prioritizes mature intermodal integration.

The arrangement of pedestrian access and connections to other transportation services around the area is a priority to increase the convenience of mode transfer for the community.

The achievement of 82 percent progress is inseparable from international collaboration.

Hutama Karya is working on CP 203 package through a joint operation scheme with a Japanese partner, Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company (SMCC-HK JO), with PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) as the project organizer. The synergy ensures that technical work in a very dense area is still running neatly and precisely.

The presence of Glodok and Kota Stations is projected to change the way residents move in the center of Jakarta.

With integrated public transportation, travel time becomes more predictable and traffic density at congested points is expected to be significantly reduced.

Furthermore, the strong connectivity in the area is expected to be able to revive the economic pulse in the Old City tourist destination, the culinary center and the Glodok trading area.

"This project is designed to strengthen intermodal integration and increase the convenience of mode transfers, especially through pedestrian access arrangements, connections to other transportation services around the area and the improvement of public space quality," he added.
