Kemendikdasmen Provides 6,000 Indonesian Talent Scholarships

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) provides the Indonesian Talent Scholarship in collaboration with the Education Fund Management Agency (LPDP) for 6,000 students to strengthen student talent management.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security's Talent Management Expert Staff, Mariman Darto, said the scholarship was one of his party's support for national and international top talents.

"Alhamdulillah, yesterday LPDP announced early regarding the Indonesian Talent Scholarship this year there are more than 6,000 scholarships in cooperation with LPDP, which are specifically for children with national and international talents," said Mariman as reported by ANTARA, Monday, February 2.

The scholarship recipients with national and international talent will later have the opportunity to continue their education at the world's top universities.

"In particular, for children with national and international talents, they can get the opportunity to go to school in the top 100 universities in the world, and 10 of them can go abroad," said Mariman.

Meanwhile, the Head of the National Achievement Center (Kapuspresnas) of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, added that the socialization of the Indonesian Talent Scholarship is ready to be held in mid-February, with the date of registration for the scholarship ready to be opened not long after the series of socialization.

"The hope is that in the middle, at the latest by the end of February, socialization and registration will be carried out, because this is a collaboration program with the LPDP. So, the system is all integrated with the LPDP," he said.

The main target of the Indonesian Talent Scholarship, said Irene, is children who have national and international achievements, so that they get a clear guarantee of learning careers.

"The target is clear from children who have international and national achievements, that is our main focus, so that children can guarantee their career learning is clear when they are champions. But, still with the quota limit," he said.

Meanwhile, for the criteria for the campus of the Indonesian Talent Scholarship, he explained that for foreign campuses, the main fields are Science, Technology, Engineering (engineering), and Mathematics (STEM).

However, he emphasized that his party would still provide scholarship quotas for talented students in the social field, including art.

"The campus is okay, the list is detailed. Domestic universities are also our target. So, children can study at domestic universities which of course must be superior campuses," he said.
