Melani Mecimapro Reveals the Defense Note to the Public

JAKARTA - The plea (pleidoi) of Fransiska Dwi Melani as CEO of Mecimapro in the legal case that is being faced, was uploaded via the official Mecimapro Instagram account.

In the description of the upload, it was stated that efforts to reveal the defense memo to the public were a form of responsibility for Melani, who is currently a suspect and seeking justice.

"The official statement was delivered with full responsibility and respect for justice," the caption read, quoted Monday, February 2.

In the pleidoi, Melani emphasized that the legal issues that entangled him were purely due to business losses, not because of evil intentions or mens rea to commit fraud.

Melani told the ups and downs of building Mecimapro since 2015. He admitted to being hit by the detention he had been on for the past five months. For him, this case started with significant losses on the TWICE concert project, which then impacted the company's overall cash flow.

"As I have learned in the science of governance, mens rea is a very important element. If someone can be convicted without proving mens rea, where is the justice?" he said.

Melani emphasized that failure to fulfill the obligation to pay the reporter, PT MIB, is a form of financial inability and operational losses, not a criminal act.

He also referred to Article 19 paragraph (2) of the Human Rights Law (HAM) which states that no one may be sentenced to prison on the grounds of inability to fulfill obligations under the agreement.

Melani said that peaceful efforts had been consistently attempted since July 2024. However, he regretted the steps of the reporter who unilaterally terminated cooperation with the main partner, which actually worsened the company's financial condition and closed the room for action to return funds.

"I never wanted to end the agreement because even though it was late, I still wanted to be responsible until the end. I apologize publicly if my actions disappoint," he said.

Melani also touched on her mental health condition which had been shaken until the desire to end her life due to the moral burden on her family.

He hopes that the panel of judges will consider his track record, which has held more than 100 successful concerts, as well as his contribution to the country's foreign exchange and social activities over the past 10 years.

"Life is a bridge for a moment, and nothing else I want is to wipe away the tears of my mother, aunt, and grandmother. My apology is dedicated to all parties I have disappointed, especially MyDay Indonesia," he concluded, quoting a Bible verse as a symbol of hope.
