Viral Video of a Man Kicked a Cat in Blora Central Java, the Perpetrator was sentenced to 1.6 years in prison under the Criminal Code
BLORA - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Blora Police has followed up on the video of the beating of a cat animal that circulated on social media. Until now, the police have summoned a number of parties, including the cat owner and the alleged perpetrator, to ask for clarification.
The Blora Police Chief AKBP Wawan Andi Susanto, through the Head of the Blora Police Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Zaenul Arifin, stated that this investigation was a direct response to the information report that was spreading in the community. The examination was carried out intensively at the Blora Police since Monday morning.
"This morning I have conducted a clarification and examination with investigators against the owner of the cat. In addition, the figure who is suspected of kicking is also today we ask for clarification or clarification at the office. The examination process is still ongoing," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Blora Police in his statement, Monday, February 2, 2026.
Based on the results of the temporary clarification from the witness of the cat owner, the unfortunate animal was confirmed to have died. However, there was a time span of about a week from the kicking incident until the cat was found lifeless.
"It's true that the cat is now dead. However, the process until it died was about a week from the incident. It is suspected that the cat was in a weak and weak condition. At that time the cat had left the house and when it was found it was already dead," he explained further.
The police confirmed that they would expedite this investigation in accordance with the applicable legal procedures. The alleged perpetrator, whose initials are PJ, is threatened with being charged using the provisions in the new Criminal Code (KUHP) regarding animal abuse.
"The article that is suspected for the perpetrator according to the New Criminal Code is Article 337. In the first sentence it is stated that anyone who harms/injures an animal or harms its health without a purpose that should be threatened with a maximum of 1 year imprisonment. However, if the act causes the animal to be sick for more than a week or to die, then according to the second sentence, the threat of imprisonment increases to a maximum of 1.6 years in prison or a category III fine of Rp. 50 million," he concluded.
This case is now a serious attention of the Blora Police as a form of education to the public not to commit acts of violence against pets or wild animals.
