Prabowo to Regional Heads: Forget the Party, Focus on the People and Poverty
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto asked all regional heads to leave political barriers and focus on poverty alleviation. He emphasized that his government works for all people, not party supporters.
"I don't ask the governor which party. We serve the people of Indonesia," said Prabowo in his speech at the Central and Regional Government Rakornas at the SICC, Bogor, Monday, February 2.
He said Indonesia still faces structural poverty, despite being rich in resources.
"Our elite must admit that they are still lacking in protecting the nation's wealth," he said.
Prabowo emphasized the priority of food and energy self-sufficiency as the foundation of independence. He also highlighted the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, which is now said to have reached 60 million beneficiaries.
"If we don't want to work, I will continue to work for true independence," he said.
He reminded, prolonged political conflicts only hinder work.
"The match is over, now work," he said.
