Iranian Foreign Minister: A Fair Nuclear Deal with the US Will Be Achieved Soon

JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran and Washington could soon reach a fair nuclear deal, and the opportunity to reach an agreement should not be wasted.

Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran Ali Larijani earlier said the establishment of a nuclear negotiation structure between Tehran and Washington continued to progress, despite facing what he called a coordinated media war.

"Don't talk about impossible things and don't waste the opportunity to reach a fair and equal nuclear agreement to ensure there are no nuclear weapons. As I said, it can be achieved even in a short time," Araghchi told CNN, quoted by Sputnik, Monday, February 2.

In January, US President Donald Trump said a "big armada" was heading to Iran, adding he hoped Tehran would be willing to negotiate and sign a "fair and equal" deal that included a complete cessation of nuclear weapons possession.

Trump warned that if an agreement is not reached on Iran's nuclear program, any future US attack on the country will be "much worse" than previous attacks.
