Government Disbursed Rp1.53 Trillion to Build Phase II People's Schools in Aceh

JAKARTA - The government has allocated a budget of Rp. 1.53 trillion to build a permanent People's School (SR) Phase II in Aceh Province.

The construction of SR Phase II was carried out in two work packages.

The construction cost is sourced from the 2025-2026 Budget Year (TA) State Budget with the implementing contractor PT Pembangunan Perumahan (Persero) Tbk-PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk (KSO) for the construction work package of the Aceh Province People's School 1 and PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk for the construction work package of the Aceh Province People's School 2.

Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said that the construction of SR is part of the government's commitment to improving the quality of human resources.

The provision of decent education infrastructure is an important foundation for producing superior and competitive generations.

"We ensure that the People's School education facilities are built quickly, correctly and with quality so that they can be immediately used by the community," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Monday, February 2.

The work package for the construction of SR Aceh Province 1 and the construction of SR Aceh Province 2 is under the responsibility of the Aceh Strategic Infrastructure Implementation Unit of the Strategic Infrastructure Directorate General of the Ministry of PU.

It is known that SR Aceh Province 1 is spread across Aceh Besar Regency, Bireuen Regency and Lhokseumawe City with an overall physical progress of 2.81 percent (data as of January 30, 2026).

Meanwhile, the construction work of SR Aceh Province 1 was carried out for 240 calendar days and is targeted to be completed on July 25, 2026 with a contract value of IDR 782.29 billion.

Then for SR Aceh Province 2 covers Nagan Raya Regency, Subulussalam City and Aceh Singkil Regency with an overall progress of 1.70 percent. The SR P package has a contract value of IDR 757.05 billion with a period of 240 calendar days and is targeted to be completed on August 14, 2026.

Dody explained that the construction of SR Phase II in Aceh Province was part of the government's continued commitment after completing 164 SR Rintisan Phase I which was completed in 2025.

"The second phase of the People's School is built permanently on land of 5 to 10 hectares prepared by the local government," he said.

Later, each school location will be equipped with student and teacher dormitory facilities as well as integrated learning spaces, such as technology-based classrooms, skill laboratories, libraries, and digital learning centers.

In addition, it is also equipped with supporting facilities such as a canteen and healthy kitchen, student health clinic, sports field, extracurricular activity room and green area.

According to Dody, the SR building is designed not only to create a safe and conducive learning environment, but also to pay attention to disaster risk mitigation.

"Through the construction of People's Schools in Aceh, we emphasize our commitment to supporting post-disaster recovery while strengthening the foundation for human resource development and strengthening social and economic resilience," he explained.

As for the national level, SR Phase II is being built in 104 locations spread across 32 provinces and 102 districts/cities throughout Indonesia.

The program is targeted to accommodate around 112,320 students with a total of 3,744 study groups (rombel).

The details are, 1,872 SD rombel, 936 SMP rombel and 936 SMA rombel.

As of January 23, 2026, the physical progress nationwide has reached 4.56 percent, with the remaining time for implementation until June-August 2026.

Thus, it is hoped that all Stage II People's Schools can be utilized in the 2026/2027 school year.
