X Corp Agree to Comply with Indonesian Law, Komdigi Normalizes Grok with Strict Supervision
JAKARTA - X Corp, the parent company of the X social media platform, has submitted a written commitment regarding steps to improve services and compliance with applicable laws and regulations in Indonesia.
Responding to this commitment, the Ministry of Communication and Digital said that they were processing the normalization of access to Grok services on a conditional basis, and under strict supervision.
"The normalization of access to Grok services is conditional after X Corp submitted a written commitment containing concrete steps to improve services and prevent abuse," said Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Komdigi, Alexander Sabar, in an official statement quoted on Monday, February 2.
Alex emphasized that this normalization was not a form of unconditional relaxation, but rather a part of a digital law enforcement mechanism that was measurable and could be evaluated at any time.
Through an official letter addressed to the Minister of Communication and Digital, X Corp stated that it had implemented a number of layered handling steps for the misuse of Grok services.
The steps include strengthening technical protection, restricting access to certain features, refining policies and enforcing internal rules, and activating incident response protocols.
Alex stated that all steps claimed by X will be verified and continuously tested by Komdigi to ensure their effectiveness in preventing violations.
"If in its implementation there are inconsistencies or continued violations, Kemkomdigi will not hesitate to take corrective action, including stopping access to services again," he said.
Komdigi noted X Corp's commitment to continue to work with the Indonesian Government in fulfilling its legal obligations as an Electronic System Operator (PSE) and maintaining a responsible digital ecosystem.
"We still open constructive dialogue, but compliance with Indonesian law is an obligation. Normalization of services is not the end point, but rather part of the process of continuous state supervision," concluded Alex.
