Dirjen Pas: 61 Narapidana Dipindahkan ke ke Nusakambangan

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections this week transferred 61 high-risk inmates (high risk) or prisoners (napi) to the Super Maximum and Maximum Security Penitentiaries on Nusakambangan Island.

"This week we have transferred two times to 61 inmates in the high-risk category. So a total of 1,948 high-risk inmates have been transferred to Nusakambangan to receive proper training and security," said Director General of Corrections Mashudi in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday.

Mashudi said the transfer was proof of the government's seriousness in optimizing training and security in prisons and state detention centers (rutan).

He said that the transfer came from the Surakarta Detention Center with 15 inmates and East Java with 22 inmates from Pamekasan Prison, 14 inmates from Surabaya Class 1 Prison, and 10 inmates from Madiun Youth Prison.

"Once again I would like to say that this transfer to Nusakambangan is not only a repressive action, but also a rehabilitative step. In line with the breath of the Penitentiary, guidance is the main program that we provide as a medium to send inmates back to society as good citizens, obedient to the rules and become independent human beings," he said.

He said that assessments would be carried out every 6 months and if there was a decrease in risk, the high-risk residents would be moved to a lower level of security and guidance.

A total of 61 high-risk inmates who have just been transferred are in the Batu Class 1 Prison, Karang Anyar Prison, Besi Prison, Gladakan Prison and Nusakambangan Narcotics Prison.

The escort during the transfer process was carried out together with officers from the Directorate of Intelligence Security, Directorate of Internal Compliance, Officers of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise for Java Tengan and East Java, Surakarta Police and East Java Police Brimob.
