Indonesian Short Films Enter World Competition in Clermont-Ferrand
CLERMONT-FERRAND, FRANCE - Indonesian short films have penetrated the international competition and global industry market at the 2026 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The Indonesian delegation was present at the festival as well as the Short Film Market, the main forum for meetings of the world's short film industry players.
This participation is supported by the Ministry of Culture through the National Talent Management with the curation of Minikino Film Week. Minister of Culture Fadli Zon considers this momentum to be strategic for the position of Indonesian short films.
"The presence of the Indonesian delegation in Clermont-Ferrand is a strategic step to strengthen the position of Indonesian short films in the global arena. Not only competing, our filmmakers build networks, open market access, and expand international collaboration opportunities," said Fadli Zon in Clermont-Ferrand, France, Sunday (1/2).
The film "One Tropical Rain of Love and Guilt" produced by Kawan Kawan Media entered the international competition. This Indonesian-Myanmar-Thai collaboration work shows the potential of increasingly open regional co-production.
In the FOCUS: Southeast Asia program, other Indonesian films were featured in the non-competitive session, including the works of Khozy Rizal, Wregas Bhanuteja, and Nirartha Bas Dhiwangkara. Nirartha was also involved in Talent Connexion by presenting the animated project "Haunted".
Six Indonesian films entered the Market Screening entitled "Indonesian Entourage: A Sleeping Giant", giving direct access to distributors, festival curators, and global production partners. The government sees Clermont-Ferrand as a concrete path for the expansion of Indonesian short films into the festival circuit and the world market.
