Residential Area of Koja Residents Burned
JAKARTA - The settlement of residents on Jalan Langsat, RW 16, Lagoa Village, Koja District, North Jakarta, was hit by a fire on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in the afternoon.
The fire incident made a number of local residents shocked and panicked. Residents also packed their valuable belongings.
According to resident reports, the fire occurred at around 16.48 WIB. Residents then reported the incident to the North Jakarta Gulkarmat and Thousand Islands Sub-post to get extinguishing assistance.
"We deployed 11 fire trucks with 60 personnel. The object that was burned was a house," said Gatot Sulaeman, Head of Operations for the North Jakarta and Thousand Islands Gulkarmat Sub-Directorate, when confirmed.
Upon arrival at the location, officers immediately carried out fire extinguishing efforts at 16.53 WIB.
"The first fire truck unit was launched with a 2,500-liter water tank capacity from the Lagoa Post," he said.
After struggling with the fire, firefighters who were at the location managed to localize the fire.
"The fire was localized at 16.58 WIB. Currently, the cooling process is still being carried out," he said.
Until now, the cause of the fire that hit the residential area is still unknown. The location of the incident is currently still being handled by officers.
