Indonesian Aquatic Manager for DIY Province was Appointed, This is the Message from the General Chairman of Anindya Bakrie
YOGYAKARTA - The Indonesian Aquatic Management of the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Province has expressed its commitment and readiness to build and conduct coaching for this sport. This was stated emphatically by the Chairman of the Indonesian Aquatic DIY for the period 2025-2030, Maryanto, when he was appointed Chairman of the Indonesian Aquatic PB Anindya Bakrie.
The DIY Provincial AI Management actively trains aquatic athletes. The success of athletes from DIY who also helped bring the water polo sport sub-branch to a bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Games is proof of the commitment of the AI management in building swimmers to be able to achieve success in the international arena.
Not only that, DIY through the Sleman Regency Office regularly holds the Championship between Schools and Universities (KRASSI) and this year is the 18th time and has become the PB agenda.
Even KRASSI 2026 was attended by swimmers from abroad who showed the weight and quality of the championship so that it could bring more than 1000 young athletes.
In addition, the growth and development of the aquatic club is very rapid. These clubs are also actively conducting coaching. This shows the commitment of the DIY Provincial AI to not sit on their hands and actively train swimming athletes.
The commitment and hard work of the DIY managers made Anindya appreciate. "For the past four years, the number of athletes from DIY who have entered the national team has continued to increase. In addition, the swimming club has increased and achievements at the national level have become more stable. DIY indeed has a well-organized training system," said Anindya when appointing the AI managers of the DIY Province in Yogyakarta, Saturday, January 31, 2026 WIB.
The General Chair, further, said that the aquatic sports branch is actually one of Indonesia's medal barns in international events. However, according to him, aquatic achievements cannot be achieved instantly but require a long process, consistency, and sacrifice before reaping achievements.
"If it succeeds, aquatic sports can save Indonesia's position in the Olympics, Asian Games, and SEA Games. Yogyakarta itself has tremendous potential, and that has been proven. I also hope that the managers can be more creative to create momentum and focus on targeting young people so that they are more interested in aquatic sports," said Anindya giving a message to the elected managers.
He hopes that aquatic sports can become a lifestyle for young people in the current era in addition to being a survival skill. "And, Yogyakarta is right to lead it. If it succeeds, this will be followed by other regions," he said again.
Anindya also highlighted the contribution of DIY athletes to the SEA Games, including the achievement of bronze medals from men's and women's water polo. He also encouraged DIY to regain the gold medal in men's water polo, after previously dominating the Southeast Asian region. Support for DIY athletes also contributed to the total 16 medals won by Indonesian Aquatics at the 2025 SEA Games, consisting of three gold, four silver, and nine bronze.
In this new management, Maryanto again received trust as the Chairman of the Indonesian Aquatic DIY for the period 2025-2030. In the management, Dhanny Aditya Wicaksono as Secretary General and AA Ngurah Gede Ari Utama as General Treasurer.
Maryanto called this inauguration a special and historic moment. For decades, according to him, DIY aquatic people were used to working alone without ceremonies, but were able to produce achievements.
"This is the starting point for a newer and more enthusiastic commitment to advancing aquatic sports in DIY and Indonesia," said Maryanto.
He admitted that the main challenge of aquatic development in DIY is still struggling with limited facilities, especially for the beautiful jump number which does not have a standard jump board. However, the athletes' spirit is still high, even able to win a silver medal by having to practice outside the area.
"In the future, DIY Indonesian Aquatics will encourage the strengthening of the training of five aquatic sub-branches, the improvement of national and international coach certification, and cross-regional cooperation so that athletes can continue to develop without having to move provinces," said Maryanto.
The hope of the DIY Provincial AI management regarding the procurement of standard jump boards received a positive response from Anindya. In fact, Anindya ensured that he would follow up.
