Spanish League results: Barcelona wins 3-1 at Elche's home

Barcelona widened the gap at the top of the Spanish League after defeating Elche 3-1 in the 22nd week, while Atletico Madrid failed to cut the points gap after being held to a goalless draw by Levante, Sunday morning WIB.

Barcelona's victory also distanced them from Real Madrid's pursuit, while Atletico Madrid remained in third place with a seven-point gap from the leaders, after Diego Simeone's team's attack line again met a stalemate.

In the match at Elche's home, Barcelona took the lead through Lamine Yamal in the sixth minute after taking advantage of a goalkeeper's mistake who came out of his cage. The visiting team was dominant and continued to press, although they failed to add a goal through Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres.

Elche managed to equalize in the 30th minute through Alvaro Rodriguez who escaped Barcelona's high defense line. However, Barcelona took the lead again before the break after Ferran Torres finished Frenkie de Jong's pass with a calm finish.

In the second half, the pace of the game slowed down, but Barcelona secured three points through Marcus Rashford's goal as a substitute. The goal was created after Rashford took advantage of Yamal's cross from the right side, as well as his second goal for the Catalan club in recent days.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid had to settle for a point after drawing 0-0 against Levante. In the match, Atletico struggled to create clean chances despite recording better ball possession and releasing 10 shots.

Match data shows Atletico only produced 0.9 expected goals (xG), with Julian Alvarez again failing to score and now going 11 LaLiga games without a goal. Nico Gonzalez was the most active player with four shots and several touches in the opponent's penalty box, but was unable to break the deadlock.

In other matches, Alaves recorded a 2-1 victory over Espanyol, Oviedo defeated Girona 1-0, and Osasuna drew 2-2 against Villarreal. With these results, Barcelona now has 55 points from 22 matches and remains firmly at the top of the Spanish League standings.
