French League results: Lens tops the standings after defeating Le Havre 1-0

JAKARTA - Lens returned to the top of the French League after defeating Le Havre 1-0 in the opening match of the 18th week of Ligue 1 on Sunday morning WIB, while Olympique de Marseille failed to secure a victory after being held to a draw by Paris FC 2-2.

Lens' victory was determined by Ruben Aguilar's goal at the end of the first half. The goal brought Lens to collect 46 points from 20 matches, one point ahead of Paris Saint-Germain who only played 19 matches.

Lens previously lost the top position after losing to Marseille, but this victory brought them back to the title race for the French League.

In another match, Marseille had to settle for sharing points with Paris FC despite being two goals ahead. Marseille opened the lead through Mason Greenwood's penalty in the 19th minute before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the score in the 54th minute.

Paris FC bounced back in the last ten minutes of the match. Jonathan Ikone narrowed the gap with a header before Ilhan Kebbal equalised through a penalty in extra time.

This result keeps Marseille in third place in the standings with 39 points, while Paris FC rises to 13th place with 21 points.

Meanwhile, Lorient won 2-1 at home against Nantes. The additional three points kept Lorient in the middle of the standings with 28 points from 20 matches, while Nantes became more stressed in 16th place with 14 points.

AS Monaco recorded a landslide victory over Rennes. The result brought Monaco up to 10th place with 27 points, while Rennes remained in sixth place with 31 points after suffering their fifth defeat this season.

A number of other matches in the 20th week will still take place, including Lyon's match against Lille, Angers against Metz, Nice against Brest, and Toulouse hosting Auxerre. Paris Saint-Germain is scheduled to travel to Strasbourg's home for the closing match of the week, Monday morning WIB.

Until the beginning of the 20th week, the top of the French League competition is still tight. Lens leads the standings with 46 points, followed by PSG with 45 points and Marseille in third place with 39 points, while the relegation zone is still occupied by Auxerre and Metz.
