Test Deepal S07, Premium Electric SUV with Modern Technology

Changan, a Chinese brand under the Indomobil Group, has launched the Deepal S07. The VOI editorial team also had the opportunity to test the electric SUV directly with a long range, as well as a variety of road conditions.

The testing was held in the Changan Deepal S07 media test drive activity entitled Born to Outstand. The activity which took place on January 29-30, 2026 invited media colleagues to directly try out the performance of Deepal S07 on the Bandung-Garut-Jakarta route.

The route was chosen to test the actual capabilities of this e-SUV, starting from the sophistication of the technology it has. This coupe-style electric SUV has a minimalist design and emphasizes aerodynamics.

The result, the performance on the mountain road, and its agility on the toll road are really felt. When in the passenger position, comfort is really felt even though the journey is long because the seats are wide, and supported by a quiet cabin and 14 speakers for the audio system.

The journey begins from Kota Baru Parahyangan, Bandung Regency. From the start, the Changan Deepal S07 was captivating with the Tech Sporty Design concept combined with Frameless Door Windows, Electric Hidden Door Handles, LED Star Flame Tail Lights, High Mounted Stop Lamp, and Intelligent Interactive Light.

All these elements present a modern impression without sacrificing functionality. The cabin area has a sense of Luxury Yacht Interior immediately felt through the Yacht-Style Wrap Around Design which is sweetened by 64-color ambient light.

The intelligent cabin layout is designed intuitively so that drivers can quickly adapt. The 15.6-inch Sunflower Screen touch screen based on the Qualcomm 8155 chipset can be tilted 15 degrees towards the driver or front passenger to facilitate access to vehicle features.

The driving experience is also strengthened by the Augmented Reality Head-Up Display (AR-HUD) which projects navigation information directly into the driver's line of sight. Deepal S07 is indeed minimal physical buttons in the driver's area.

In terms of performance, the 215 hp electric motorcycle with 320 Nm of torque is able to accelerate without losing power, even the acceleration from 0-100 km/h can be achieved in 7.9 seconds on an expressway. When entering the toll road, you can use the Comfort or Sport mode, as well as activate the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).

Then the Integrated Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC) feature helps adjust the speed to the vehicle in front, including when traffic slows down to a total stop, while Lane Keeping Assist keeps the car in its lane. The combination of these features makes the journey feel more relaxed, safe, and less tiring.

The return journey from Garut to Jakarta is a real proof of Deepal S07's toughness, with a route passing through Garland Barnville until it ends in South Jakarta. Driver confidence is also supported by the 79.9 kWh capacity Golden Shield Battery which has been tested on millions of vehicles, with a cruising range of up to 560 km (NEDC). The comprehensive safety system includes six airbags, ABS+EBD, Electronic Stability Program, Traction Control System, Braking Assist, and Hill Hold Control.

When entering heavy traffic to narrow parking areas, there are four rear radars, as well as 360-degree cameras to ensure maneuvers are performed precisely and safely. This SUV also supports DC Fast Charging with a charging capacity of 30 to 80 percent in about 35 minutes

Talking about the price, Deepal S07 in Indonesia as of January 2026 has been adjusted to around IDR 609 million (OTR DKI Jakarta). However, for those who buy February 2026, the price tag is still being considered, whether it will remain the same or be adjusted.
