Krisis Konveksi Entrepreneur of Tailors in the Middle of a Surge in Demand for Clothes Ahead of Eid
JAKARTA - The Association of Working Textile Entrepreneurs (IPKB) said that market demand for clothing products increased ahead of Ramadan and Lebaran 2026. However, the human resources (HR) crisis for tailors is still a challenge for business actors.
The General Chair of IPKB Nandi Herdiaman said that the owners of the textile industry, especially on a small and medium-sized industrial scale (IKM), have difficulty finding tailors with adequate skills to meet high quality standards.
"This is due to several factors, such as the lack of interest of the younger generation to enter the sewing field, the lack of adequate training and education, and the lack of attractive incentives for tailors," Nandi wrote, Saturday, January 31.
Therefore, IPKB asked the government to support the needs of the garment industry, especially in capital and the improvement of the garment workers' human resources.
The reason, said Nandi, is that his party needs easier access to sources of capital that can help to increase production capacity and meet market demand.
"In addition, we also need adequate training and education for tailors, so that they can improve their skills and experience," he said.
Furthermore, Nandi reiterated the government's commitment to protect the domestic market from illegal imported goods that harm local entrepreneurs.
According to him, illegal imported goods not only damage the domestic market, but also harm the actors of the convective IKM.
"We ask the government to increase supervision and enforcement of illegal imported goods, so that we can compete fairly with imported products," he said.
In addition, his party also suggested that the government provide attractive incentives for tailors, such as wage subsidies, health insurance and pension programs.
The government, he continued, can also help increase the promotion of IKM convection products both domestically and abroad.
"With good market demand, we can increase the remuneration of employees and their welfare. However, we need support from the government to increase our competitiveness and overcome the challenges we face," he concluded.
