BPBD Trenggalek Deploys Heavy Equipment to Overcome the Bandung-Prigi Road Landslide

Trenggalek - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Trenggalek Regency moved quickly to deploy one unit of heavy equipment to clean up the landslide material that had closed the Bandung-Prigi Highway in Watulimo Village, Watulimo District, Trenggalek Regency, East Java, on Friday, January 30 night.

The Head of the Trenggalek BPBD, Triadi Atmono, Saturday, January 31, said that the landslide material cleaning was carried out from Friday night to Saturday morning using heavy equipment.

"The handling started at around 23.00 WIB until 01.00 WIB. The mud and rock materials were successfully removed so that the road could be passed, although there was still mud in several places," said Triadi.

To ensure the safety of road users, BPBD Trenggalek continued to handle it on Saturday morning by spraying the road body using a fire truck and a water tank truck.

"Spraying is done so that the road is not slippery and the surface is cleaner so that vehicles can pass safely," he said.

Triadi explained that the landslide occurred due to moderate to heavy rain that hit the Watulimo area since Friday afternoon. Mud material from the cliff covered the Bandung-Prigi Highway body as high as about 40-50 centimeters and had entered six houses in Watulimo Village.

In addition to Watulimo, BPBD Trenggalek also ensured that the flood conditions in Gandusari District had receded. The flood that had flooded the Gandusari-Kampak Highway as high as 30-40 centimeters on Friday evening is no longer disturbing the activities of residents.

"For the incident in Gandusari, the water has completely receded since Friday night and cleaning has been carried out by residents together with officers," said Triadi.

BPBD Trenggalek appealed to the public to remain vigilant against the potential of hydrometeorological disasters, considering that extreme weather is still likely to occur in a number of areas in Trenggalek Regency.
