BPBD: Flood and Landslide Close the Bandung-Prigi Route in Trenggalek
Trenggalek - Heavy to moderate rain that hit Trenggalek Regency, East Java, triggered a flood and landslide disaster which resulted in the Bandung-Prigi Highway being completely closed on Friday, January 30 at night.
The Head of the Trenggalek Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Triadi Atmono, said that the overflow flood from the cliff in Watulimo Village, Watulimo District, brought mud and rock material to close the road body to a height of about 40-50 centimeters.
"Mud material also entered the residents' settlements, two houses in RT 05 and four houses in RT 04 Watulimo Village, with mud heights of around 15 to 30 centimeters," said Triadi.
He ensured that there were no casualties in the incident. However, the main access connecting Bandung-Prigi was forced to be closed completely because it was buried by landslide material.
The BPBD Trenggalek Rapid Response Team (TRC) together with the TNI, Polri, fire department, village apparatus, and local residents have been deployed to the location to carry out initial handling. Coordination was also carried out for the process of cleaning the landslide material using heavy equipment.
In addition to Watulimo, heavy rain also caused flash floods on the Gandusari-Kampak Highway, Sukorejo Village, Gandusari District, around 18.30 WIB. A water puddle 30-40 centimeters high temporarily closed the road and entered a resident's house with a height of about 10 centimeters.
"For the incident in Gandusari, the water condition has completely receded at around 20.00 WIB and residents have carried out cleaning," said Triadi.
BPBD Trenggalek appealed to the public who wanted to go to Watulimo District to use the southern cross route as an alternative route and continue to increase vigilance against the potential for subsequent extreme weather.
