As of January 28, 698 Tons of Post-Flood Waste in Aceh Have Been Hauled Away

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has transported 698 tons of domestic waste from various locations affected by flash floods in Aceh Province.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that accelerating cleaning, especially public facilities, was a priority so that social, economic activities and public services could be recovered immediately.

"We all want to ensure that people affected by disasters do not stay in difficult conditions for a long time," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Friday, January 30.

The cleaning and transportation of garbage is part of the Ministry of PU's rapid response in handling emergencies as well as to accelerate the rehabilitation phase after the late flood.

The focus of the activities is directed at the public service office area, health facilities, education, residential neighborhood networks, and access to basic infrastructure.

For Aceh Tamiang Regency, the PU Ministry transported 407 tons of garbage from a number of points, including the Regent's Office area, Rantau Street, Muda Sedia Hospital and SDN Kota Lintang.

Hundreds of tons of garbage were transported to the Aceh Tamiang Regency waste disposal site (TPA).

The work in the area is supported by the use of heavy equipment in the form of excavators, wheel loaders and dump trucks to accelerate the removal of waste material and mud from public facilities and the surrounding environment.

Meanwhile, in Central Aceh Regency, cleaning activities were carried out in the Mendale Village area and Paya Ilang TPS with a total of 88 tons of waste successfully transported.

The handling is supported by excavators and transport fleets to clean up the disaster waste and mud piles that hinder environmental access and community activities.

Meanwhile, in Pidie Jaya Regency, the PU Ministry transported 203 tons of garbage from a number of environmental roads.

The routes include Jalan Lingkungan towards Meunasah Lhok Bridge, Jalan Akses PDAM Desa Berawang, Jalan Lingkungan Meunasah Raya, Jalan Lingkungan Meunasah Bei to Jalan Lingkungan Beuringen.

The activity was supported by heavy equipment in the form of backhoe loaders, excavators, and dump trucks.

The handling of post-flood post-flood in Aceh Province involves PU Task Force (Satgas) personnel and disaster equipment, such as standard and mini excavators, backhoe loaders, wheel loaders, dozers, and dump truck fleets that are gradually mobilized according to field needs.

As of January 28, 2026, the cleaning of public facilities in Aceh Province has been completed in 86 locations out of a total of 183 affected locations, including the addition of 21 new locations.

Thus, there are still 97 locations that are currently in the cleaning process.

In addition to direct handling in the field, the PU Ministry also carried out improvements in sanitation and sanitation services.

The activity was carried out by increasing the services of 11 waste landfills in 11 districts/cities and 10 Sewage Sludge Treatment Facilities (IPLT) in 10 districts/cities in Aceh Province which are currently in the implementation phase.
