Following the Jambret Case, the Head of Narcotics of the DIY Police was Appointed as the Acting Police Chief of Sleman

JAKARTA - The Director of Narcotics Investigation (Dirresnarkoba) of the DI Yogyakarta Police (DIY) Kombes Pol. Roedy Yulianto was appointed as the Acting (Plh.) of the Sleman Police Chief after the post was left by Kombes Pol. Edy Setyanto who was temporarily deactivated.

"Today, the DIY Police Chief has appointed the daily executive as the Sleman Police Chief from the main official of the DIY Police, namely the Director of Narcotics Investigation," said the Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the National Police's Divhumas, Brigjen Pol. Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko at the National Police's Bareskrim Building, Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.

The appointment, he said, was to ensure that services at the Sleman Police could run optimally.

"(For) the next step, of course, the Police Chief will convey it later," he said.

It is known, Kombes Pol. Edy Setyanto was temporarily deactivated from his position as the Sleman Police Chief following the emergence of a controversy in the snatching case.

This deactivation is based on the recommendations of the Audit With a Specific Purpose (ADTT) carried out by the Regional Oversight Inspectorate (Itwasda) of the DIY Police.

The ADTT was carried out on January 26, 2026 regarding the handling of cases of theft with violence (curas) and traffic accidents that occurred on April 26, 2025.

In the audit, he continued, there were allegations of weak supervision by the leadership so that the investigation process caused a commotion in the community and had an impact on the decline in the image of the National Police.

The interim results of the ADTT were also announced on January 30, 2026. In the title, all participants agreed to recommend the temporary deactivation of the Sleman Police Chief until the next examination was completed.

For information, the case of the robbery that became a polemic occurred in April 2025. A husband named Hogi Minaya chased two robbers who snatched his wife's bag using a car.

However, the incident resulted in a traffic accident after the perpetrator's motorcycle overturned and hit a wall, resulting in two people dying.

The husband was also named a suspect by the Sleman Police and charged with Article 310 paragraph 4 and Article 311 of the Road Traffic and Transportation Law (UU LLAJ) Number 22 of 2009.

Meanwhile, Commission III of the DPR RI has asked the Sleman District Attorney's Office (Kejari) to stop this case for the sake of the law.

The termination is based on Article 65 letter m of Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code and/or the justifying reason in Article 34 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
