Sabalenka and Rybakina to meet at 2026 Australian Open summit party
JAKARTA - World number one tennis player Aryna Sabalenka and fifth seed Elena Rybakina are confirmed to meet in the final round of the 2026 Australian Open which will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Sabalenka advanced to her fourth consecutive final at Melbourne Park after defeating Elina Svitolina. Meanwhile, Rybakina needed four match points to defeat Jessica Pegula.
The second match between the two names in the Grand Slam final of the opening season was a repeat of the 2023 Australian Open final. At that time, Sabalenka won the duel to get her first Grand Slam in her career.
This is Sabalenka's eighth Grand Slam final overall (including doubles) and she has not lost a set on the way to the final at this year's Australian Open.
The record is the same as he did in 2023 and 2024 when he finally won the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup in Melbourne.
Sabalenka, who is aiming for a fifth Grand Slam singles title, is on a 11-match winning streak and has scored the most points of any player during this year's tournament (172).
Rybakina has also not lost a set in this tournament. Her dramatic match came in the semifinals when Jessica Pegula saved three match points and even created two set points in the second set tiebreaker, but Rybakina bounced back and closed the match in straight sets.
The 26-year-old is known for his powerful serve and still holds a 6-5 record against Sabalenka.
