Protection of JKK BPJS Employment Provides a Sense of Security for Workers
JAKARTA - The risk of occupational accidents is still a serious challenge for workers in various sectors, both formal and informal. To provide protection and certainty of social security, BPJS Employment presents the Occupational Accident Insurance (JKK) Program as a comprehensive form of protection for Indonesian workers.
The JKK program provides protection against the risk of accidents that occur in the work relationship, including accidents during commuting and commuting. Benefits provided include unlimited health services according to medical needs, temporary compensation for inability to work, partial disability or total disability compensation, to compensation for death due to work accidents.
In addition, BPJS Employment also provides additional benefits in the form of rehabilitation services and education scholarships for children of participants who die or suffer from total permanent disability due to work accidents. This program aims to maintain the survival and future of the workers' families.
Head of BPJS Employment Jakarta Cilincing, Rita Mariana said that during January-December 2025, BPJS Employment Jakarta Cilincing had paid accident insurance benefits of IDR 8.8 billion to participants.
"This is a tangible proof of the state's presence in mitigating the economic impact due to labor risks," Rita said in a statement, Thursday, January 29.
In addition, to improve the quality of Occupational Accident Insurance (JKK) services at the beginning of 2026, BPJS Employment Jakarta Cilincing has also renewed the Cooperation Agreement with the Occupational Accident Service Center. "Including 4 hospitals, 6 clinics, and 19 health centers," he said.
Participation in the JKK program, added Rita, is open to all workers, including wage earners, non-wage earners, to informal sector workers such as farmers, fishermen, traders, and freelancers.
"With relatively affordable dues, workers can obtain optimal social protection," he said.
Rita appealed to employers to register all their employees and invited self-employed workers to immediately become participants. Protection of work accident insurance is considered capable of reducing the social and economic impacts caused by work risks.
"Through the Occupational Accident Insurance Program, BPJS Employment is committed to providing a sense of security, increasing worker productivity, and realizing the welfare of Indonesian workers sustainably," concluded Rita.
