The Death Toll of the Philippine Capsized Ship Reaches 29 People

JAKARTA - The Philippine Coast Guard has found 11 bodies following the sinking of the Trisha Kerstin 3 passenger and cargo ferry in the Philippines. The total victims are 29 people.

Previous reports said as many as 18 people were killed in the incident.

The findings occurred at around 01.50 local time (00.50 WIB), about 2.75 nautical miles from the Baluk-Baluk island community, according to a report by the Philippine News Agency. A diving team consisting of 19 personnel was deployed on Thursday (28/1).

The Russian Embassy in the Philippines told RIA Novosti that no Russian citizens were killed in the incident.

"The diplomats are currently coordinating with local authorities," he said.

The ferry M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 sank on Monday (26/1) night off the coast of Basilan Province due to suspected technical problems.

The ship is known to carry 332 passengers and 27 crew members.
