SPPG Purwosari Kudus Apologizes 118 Students Poisoned by MBG Menu Treated at Hospital
Purwosari Nutrition Fulfillment Service (SPPG) in Kudus Regency, Central Java, apologized to the public after a case of food poisoning from the Free Nutrition Service (MBG) program, which resulted in at least 118 students having to undergo treatment.
"We are ready to take full responsibility for the incident, including replacing the medical expenses of the affected students," said the Head of SPPG Purwosari, Nasihul Umam, responding to the large number of students who underwent treatment due to health problems and were treated at a number of hospitals in Kudus, Thursday, quoted by Antara.
He also apologized for this incident and the public was asked to be patient and wait for the results of laboratory examinations.
"We remain committed to being fully responsible and conducting an evaluation so that similar incidents do not recur," he said.
He explained that the incident began with a report from SMA Negeri 2 Kudus which informed that a number of students had diarrhea, even one of them had to be taken to the Emergency Room (IGD).
"I was called by the PIC (Person in Charge) or the person in charge of the MBG of SMA 2 Kudus who said that there were students who had diarrhea, some went to the emergency room, and some did not go to school," he said.

Following up on the report, he and his staff, accountants, nutritionists, and laboratory assistants immediately went to the school to verify it. The MBG menu consumed at that time was a complete suwir chicken soto with tempeh and bean sprouts.
"We immediately clarified the menu of suwir chicken soto. On that occasion, I also expressed my apology and readiness to take responsibility, including buying medicine for students with diarrhea and replacing the cost of treatment for those treated in the emergency room," he said.
SPPG Purwosari also held an audience with the school, teachers, class representatives, and several students for almost half an hour. However, after the audience, the number of students who complained of stomach pain continued to increase until the health center and ambulance officers came to the school.
"At first there were only a few students, but then more and more people came to the school health unit (UKS). The health center also went directly to the school," he said.
Regarding the exact cause of the incident, Nasihul emphasized that his party was still waiting for the results of laboratory tests on MBG food samples, so that he could not conclude the cause.
He added that in terms of nutritional content, the MBG menu for the high school level was adjusted to the standard, namely energy of 680.4 grams, fat 26.8 grams, protein 33.2 grams, and carbohydrates 78.7 grams. And it is equipped with soy sauce, different from the SD menu.
Currently, SPPG Purwosari serves 13 schools with a total number of beneficiaries of 2,173 people, including teachers and education staff.
As of Thursday, January 29 afternoon, it was recorded that the number of students and teachers and education staff at SMA 2 Kudus who had to undergo treatment at seven hospitals reached 118 people.
The seven hospitals are Loekmono Hadi Kudus Hospital, Mardi Rahayu Kudus Hospital, Sarkies Aisyiyah Hospital, Kudus Hospital, Kumala Siwi Hospital, Kartika Hospital, and Aisyiyah Hospital.
