Flood Hits Indramayu, BNPB: 206 Residents Displaced
JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded 206 residents of Tambak Village, Indramayu, West Java, were displaced due to flooding.
Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, said that hundreds of residents had evacuated independently and remained under the supervision of the Indramayu joint team of officers as of Thursday, January 29.
"Self-evacuation and evacuation to safer locations. The local government has prepared evacuation locations in three points," he said in a report received in Jakarta, quoted by Antara.
Pusdalops BNPB confirmed that hundreds of residents were part of a total of 2,724 people affected by the flood caused by the high intensity of rain pouring on Indramayu and several other areas in West Java since Tuesday, January 27.
Abdul ensured that even though the flood had started to recede with the current water level of 30-90 centimeters, officers still provided maximum handling.
In this case, it is devoted to crucial matters, namely the fulfillment of basic needs such as logistical assistance for food, evacuation equipment, to the normalization of drainage channels.
"Stay alert to the potential for extreme weather that can still occur during the rainy season and always monitor official information from trusted sources such as BNPB, BPBD, and BMKG," he said.
