2 Days of Joining, Odessa A’zion Choose to Quit the Film Production "Deep Cuts"

JAKARTA - Actress Odessa A'zion announced her withdrawal from the production of A24's latest film, Deep Cuts. Her name joined the other main cast on Monday, January 26.

“Guys! I’m with you and I didn’t play this movie. Let me explain,” wrote Odessa A’zion.

Deep Cuts is a film adapted from Holly Brickley's novel in 2025. The character that A'zion plays is Zoe Gutierrez is of Mexican and Jewish descent.

His character is a good friend of music critic Percy who will be played by Cailee Spaeny and Percy's ex-boyfriend Joe played by Drew Starkey.

"Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry this happened. I intended to join for the role of Percy but was offered Zoe and immediately agreed! I'm really disappointed!," continued A'zion.

"I haven't read the book and should have paid attention to all aspects of Zoe before accepting it, and now that I know? Fuck it. I'm out!" he said.

He won't take the role from someone who deserves to play the character. He is also looking forward to who will play the character of Zoe.

"There are many people who are more worthy of playing this character and I am not one of them. I can't wait for it," he said.

Before Starkey and Spaeny, Austin Butler and Saoirse Ronan were cast as the main characters but dropped out due to scheduling conflicts.

Deep Cuts is produced by Eli Bush, Ronald Bronstein and Josh Safdie under A24 production.
