There is the MRT Phase 2A Project, Traffic Engineering on Thamrin Street in Stages until November 2026
JAKARTA - The construction of the Thamrin MRT Station and the Monas MRT Station as part of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A Project Contract Package 201 (CP 201) is still ongoing. Along with the construction work, PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has again implemented advanced traffic engineering on a number of sections of Jalan M.H. Thamrin and the surrounding area.
Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Rendy Primartantyo said that traffic engineering is needed to support the construction of station entrances, ventilation towers, to the return of sidewalk and pedestrian conditions.
Rendy explained, to support the construction work of CP 201, PT MRT Jakarta together with Shimizu-Adhi Karya Joint Venture (SAJV) as the implementing contractor will carry out traffic arrangements gradually during the construction period.
A number of works carried out are around the Thamrin MRT Station and Monas MRT Station areas. The work includes the construction of entrances, ventilation towers, and the return of road and pedestrian conditions.
"The work carried out includes construction work on the entrance and ventilation tower of the Thamrin MRT Station on the east and west sides, as well as restoration work," said Rendy in his statement, Thursday, January 29.
One of the traffic engineering implemented is the extension of the Thamrin MRT Station traffic arrangement which took place from January 16 to February 8, 2026. This engineering is carried out to accommodate work in the Entrance 5 and Entrance 3 areas at the intersection of Jalan M.H. Thamrin and Jalan Kebon Sirih.
At that stage, traffic flow on the east and west sides of Jalan M.H. Thamrin will be shifted to the median of the road, while maintaining three regular vehicle lanes and one lane of mixed traffic with Transjakarta buses.
In addition, traffic engineering is also applied on the north side of the Bundaran HI MRT Station for work on restoring conditions and improving sidewalks which will take place from January 17 to May 31, 2026. In this phase, the construction fence is moved from the median to the sidewalk area on the east and west sides of the road.
The next phase is traffic engineering for the Wahid Hasyim-Thamrin Station pedestrian return work, which is scheduled to take place from May 1 to August 31, 2026. This work includes both sides of Jalan M.H. Thamrin, both in the direction of Blok M and in the direction of the City.
Entering February to March 2026, PT MRT Jakarta will also implement traffic engineering for the preparation of construction of Entrance 10 and fire access on the median of Jalan M.H. Thamrin. This engineering lasts longer, namely until November 2026.
Outside Jalan M.H. Thamrin, traffic engineering is also applied on the north side of Jalan Budi Kemuliaan, specifically at the Thamrin Fountain roundabout, to support the construction of the Thamrin MRT Station Entrance 6 corridor.
"PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) always ensures that the comfort and safety of road users are maintained during the construction process," said Rendy.
He also appealed to the public to follow the traffic regulations that had been set and comply with the instructions of officers in the field. "We hope for understanding and cooperation from the public to continue to support the implementation of this project," he continued.
