Ciliwung Normalization Continues, Pramono: We Have Liberated Enough Land, Indeed Adem Ayem Has Done It

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to normalize the Ciliwung River as part of medium-term flood control efforts. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung directly reviewed the land acquisition process in Cawang Village, East Jakarta, Thursday, January 29.

Pramono said the normalization of Ciliwung was an important job that had been halted since 2017 and was now resumed with land acquisition. According to him, the Ciliwung River section is one of the crucial points in controlling Jakarta floods.

"The normalization of the Ciliwung River was stopped from 2017 and we continue again, because the DKI Jakarta Government together with BPN believes that one of the things that must be done to reduce flooding in Jakarta in the medium term is this Ciliwung section," said Pramono at the location. ,

Pramono revealed that the land acquisition process along the Ciliwung River was carried out without fanfare. He admitted that land acquisition had been carried out quite extensively, but was carried out in a closed and gradual manner.

"Because I really want this Ciliwung normalization to run without fuss. And friends must not have expected that we have carried out a fairly massive release in this place. And it was indeed done in a calm and quiet way," said Pramono.

He added that almost 40 percent of river activities in Jakarta are in the Ciliwung area. Therefore, the normalization in this section is considered strategic and divided into two work segments.

The first segment stretches from Manggarai Water Gate to MT Haryono with a length of around 7 kilometers. In this segment, it is planned to build a dike along 14.99 kilometers, with the current realization reaching 8.24 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the second segment stretches from MT Haryono to TB Simatupang along 12.89 kilometers. In this segment, the construction of the embankment is planned along 18.7 kilometers, with a realization of around 8.9 kilometers.

Especially in the Cawang area, the land release needs reached around 411 plots with a length of approximately 2,401 meters. In 2025, 20 plots of land with a length of approximately 150 meters have been released. Furthermore, in 2026, the release of 133 plots with a handling length of approximately 557 meters is planned, while the rest will be carried out in 2027.

Overall, of the total plan to pave 33.69 kilometers on the Ciliwung section, 17.14 kilometers have been realized.

"What is clear is that we want to inform that all land acquisitions are carried out directly by the DKI Jakarta Government through the Water Resources Office. Not through anyone. Then in the field, of course, BPN is the one who determines it," said Pramono.

Regarding the arrangement of affected residents, Pramono said the DKI Provincial Government opened the option of using the simple rental apartment (rusunawa) owned by the local government, with the applicable provisions.

"If the community really wants to use the apartment owned by or built by the DKI Jakarta Government, we allow it. Of course, with the requirements that must be met. Not moved, but they must pay or rent for it," he said.

He also claimed that until now there were no significant obstacles in the field. Pramono emphasized the importance of land acquisition being carried out directly by the government to avoid intermediary practices.

"Because the most important thing, I have warned that it must be done by ourselves. If this kind of thing, there are many people who want to be the middleman. But we are doing all this ourselves and specifically I thank BPN for the good coordination," concluded Pramono.
