Extreme Weather Today, Basarnas Continues to Search for Victims of West Bandung Landslide
BANDUG - The search operation for victims of landslides in the Cisarua area, West Bandung Regency, was resumed on Thursday, January 29, even though extreme weather was still hitting the disaster site. The Basarnas team together with the joint SAR personnel still prioritizes the safety of all officers in the field.
Head of the Bandung SAR Office, Ade Dian Permana, emphasized that the SAR operation was carried out with the principle of high caution, considering that the potential for subsequent disasters could still occur.
"SAR operations will continue with the main principle of personnel safety as the highest priority, control of subsequent disaster risks, accuracy and transparency of victim data, and synergy of all involved elements," said Ade Dian Permana.
However, the rescue team still stayed in the search area. Unlike the previous day, on the sixth day of this SAR operation, it was no longer shrouded in thick fog so that the visibility was relatively better.
A total of 17 units of heavy equipment type excavators were maximized and distributed at a number of locations to expand the search area. The field that can be reached allows the evacuation process of the victims to be carried out more widely.
Based on the latest data, the number of body bags (body packs) that have been successfully evacuated until the fifth day of the search reached 53 bags. Two latest body bags were found on the fifth day of the SAR operation.
