Jakarta Floods This Morning, 5 Roads are Under Water and 20 RT Affected

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 5 roads in Jakarta were flooded up to 50 centimeters due to heavy rain pouring over Jakarta this morning.

"As of 09.00 WIB, BPBD recorded that currently there are 20 RT and 5 roads flooded," said Head of the BPBD DKI Jakarta Data Center M. Yohan in his statement, Thursday, January 29.

The height of the water on the flooded road varies up to 40 centimeters. The following is the list:

1. Jalan Meruya Selatan, Kelurahan Meruya Selatan, Jakarta Barat Water level: ±40 cm

2. Jalan Daan Mogot Km 12 (seberang Victoria/Pabrik Gelas), Kelurahan Cengkareng Timur, Jakarta Barat Water level: ±15 cm

3. Jalan Srengseng Raya, Kelurahan Srengseng, Jakarta Barat Water level: ±40 cm

4. Jalan Cileduk Raya, Cipulir Village, South Jakarta Water level: ±15 cm

5. Jalan Raden Inten II, Kelurahan Duren Sawit, Jakarta Timur Water level: ±25 cm

Meanwhile, BPBD also recorded as many as 20 RT in West Jakarta and East Jakarta were flooded this morning. In West Jakarta, flooding affected 3 RT in Rawa Buaya Village and Kedoya South Village with a water level of 30 to 70 centimeters.

Then, there are 14 RT in East Jakarta that are flooded, namely 4 RT in Bidara Cina Village, 4 RT in Kampung Melayu, 5 RT in Cawang, and 1 RT in Cililitan with a water height of 110 to 150 centimeters.

The flooding in East Jakarta was not only caused by high rainfall, but also the overflow of the Ciliwung River due to water shipments from upstream since Wednesday, January 28 evening.

Currently, the BPBD DKI Jakarta is deploying personnel to monitor the condition of the puddles in each area and coordinate the elements of the Water Resources Agency, the Road Construction Agency, the Gulkarmat Agency to carry out the suction of puddles and ensure that the water lines function properly together with the local sub-district heads and sub-district heads as well as prepare basic needs for survivors.

"The puddles are targeted to recede quickly. BPBD DKI appeals to the public to remain cautious and alert to the potential of puddles," he said.
