JAKARTA - A perpetrator of a stabbing motor theft was beaten by a mob in the RW 03 area, Warakas Village, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.

Even though the perpetrator was secured at the RW 03 office post, residents were still emotional and surrounded the local security post.

A number of residents admitted that they were angry at the perpetrator. When searched, a number of evidence and sharp weapons of the type badik belonging to the perpetrator were found.

Fortunately, the residents' rampage could be quelled after the operational team of the Tanjung Priok Police Criminal Investigation Unit arrived at the scene.

"Initially, the operational team of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Police received information from the public about a motor thief who was secured by residents at the RW 03 Warakas Office on Tuesday, January 27, evening," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Police, AKP Handam Samudro when confirmed, Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

After arriving at the location, it turned out that the crowd had already been waiting to approach the motor theft perpetrator.

Worried that something undesirable would happen, the police then secured the scene, which was no longer conducive.

"We immediately secured the perpetrator to avoid the wrath of the crowd," he said.

Later it was found out that the perpetrator was named Jeremias Tomas (31) a resident of Jalan Bahari, Tanjung Priok. The perpetrator is a thief of a Honda Beat motorcycle belonging to the victim with the initials TN.

For further processing, the perpetrator and the evidence of the Honda Beat motorcycle were then taken to the Tanjung Priok Police.

"Currently, the perpetrator is still being investigated and deepened by investigators. We are still tracing the network of other perpetrators," he said.

Meanwhile, the case is handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanjung Priok Police.
