UMP Jakarta 2026 Will Not Be Revised, Pramono: It's a Deal, If You Want to Demonstrate Nothing
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung gave a firm signal that he would not revise the DKI Jakarta provincial minimum wage (UMP) in 2026. The nominal UMP was enacted in the Governor's Decree Number 1142 concerning the Minimum Wage of the Province in 2026 which was enacted by Pramono at the end of December.
Pramono emphasized that the value of DKI UMP which increased by 6.17 percent from 2025 to Rp5.7 million this year has referred to the results of the preparation and recommendations of the DKI Jakarta Wage Board which consists of representatives of workers, employers, and the government.
"So, the DKI Jakarta government has completed the matter related to labor wages, UMP. Therefore, the agreement between the trade unions, employers, the DKI Jakarta government in the Wage Council," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, January 28.
In addition, the DKI Provincial Government has also determined the amount of the 2026 provincial sectoral minimum wage (UMSP). Therefore, Pramono still hopes that all parties will follow the decision.
However, Pramono emphasized that the government would not prohibit labor groups from returning to protest to reject the amount of UMP that had been set. Considering that the action of presenting aspirations is a right protected by laws and regulations.
"So for DKI Jakarta it's actually finished. If there is a demo stop at the City Hall, it's okay too. The demon was actually at the Palace," said Pramono.
Today, a number of workers who are members of the Federation of Metal Workers' Unions (FSPMI) DKI Jakarta held a demonstration to reject the increase in the 2026 JMP. The action took place on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, Wednesday afternoon.
In the action, the crowd brought two command cars equipped with four loudspeakers. The participants in the action not only came from DKI Jakarta, but also came from West Java and East Java.
The Secretary of the SPAMK FSPMI DKI Jakarta PC, Kuszairi, conveyed objections to the UMP and Pramono's decision regarding the UMSP. According to him, the decision actually harms workers because it does not reflect the real needs of workers.
He highlighted the difference between the decent living needs (KHL) which reached Rp5.9 million and the 2026 UMP which was set at Rp5.7 million. The difference is considered to narrow the living space of workers in the midst of economic pressure.
According to Kuszairi, the increase in wages which only ranges from IDR 200 thousand to IDR 300 thousand is not commensurate with the expected surge in the cost of living throughout 2026.
"Rp. 5.7 million is enough? Throughout 2026 there will be an increase in the basic electricity tariff, there will be an increase in fuel, there will be an increase in taxes, there will be an increase in basic necessities," said Kuszairi in his speech.
FSPMI assessed that the government needed to re-evaluate the wage policy to be in line with the economic conditions of workers and not just based on the increase in formal figures, while the burden of living for workers continues to increase.
