The Red and White Fisherman Village Settlement is Impacted by Weather and Logistics Access

JAKARTA - The development of 65 Red and White Fishing Villages (KNMP) Phase I is still ongoing and showing significant progress.

Until now, the average progress of the KNMP construction has reached 80 percent.

"At the end of this month it will be, it is already 80 percent. That is, the cleanest-bersihin road," said Special Staff for the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for Public Relations and Public Communication Doni Ismanto when met by reporters at his office, Wednesday, January 28.

Doni said, until now there are 19 KNMP that have been completed and fully operational.

Meanwhile, the government targets the construction of 65 KNMP for the first phase with a cost of Rp. 1.34 trillion.

This means that there are still 46 KNMP that are still being built. He hopes that the KNMP that is still in the construction phase can immediately follow up and operate.

According to Doni, weather conditions and logistical access are obstacles to the development of KNMP. "In some places, the weather is also like in Jakarta. We, of course, want it to be fast, lah. Every working day, kok, they," he said.

Several KNMP have been completed and are operational, including in Toli-Toli (Central Sulawesi); Bumiharjo (Central Java); Pujiharjo (East Java); Labetawi (Maluku); Gebang Mekar (West Java), Karang Duwur (Central Java); and Poncosari (Special Region of Yogyakarta).

He stated that some KNMPs that have been operating have even exported fishery products. One of them is the KNMP in the eastern part of Indonesia, which exported almost one ton of fresh fish caught by coastal fishermen to Saudi Arabia on January 10, 2026.

KNMP is an upgraded version of the previous program, namely the Advanced Fishermen Village.

Through the KNMP program, said Doni, the government provides additional needs that have not been facilitated previously.

For example, public fuel filling stations to cooling facilities.

"But if later the KNMP is running, it turns out that there are deficiencies, yes, we will add more," he said.
