Commission II of the DPR asks the Camat in Medan Judol to use Rp1.2 billion of the Regional Government's money to be fired from the ASN
Member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Indrajaya, highlighted the case of the Medan Maimun Regent, Medan City, Almuqarrom Natapradja, who played online gambling (judol), using the Regional Government Credit Card (KKPD) worth Rp. 1.2 billion.
Indrajaya emphasized that the sanction of dismissal from the camat seat alone was not enough for the case. According to him, Almuqarrom must be dismissed from the ASN, because he has misused state facilities for illegal purposes.
"Almuqarrom is not enough to be fired from the position of camat. He must be fired from the ASN because he has misused the KKPD for online gambling. This is a serious violation," Indrajaya told reporters, Wednesday, January 28.
Indrajaya emphasized that law enforcement officers must act decisively against state civil servants (ASN) or public officials who are involved in online gambling practices, especially if they use state facilities.
"ASN or officials who play online gambling should only be severely punished. Moreover, this uses the facilities of the local government, even though the local government does not pay the credit card bill used," he said.
The member of the commission for domestic governance considered that firm action was needed so that similar cases would not be repeated and would serve as a stern warning to other public officials.
"Almuqarrom must be severely sanctioned so that it becomes a lesson for other officials. Moreover, at this time the government is actively waging war against online gambling. Don't let it be the officials themselves who hurt the effort," concluded Indrajaya.
As reported, Medan Mayor Rico Waas removed Almuqarrom Natapradja from the position of Medan Maimun Sub-district Head. He is suspected of abusing the Regional Government Credit Card worth Rp. 1.2 billion for online gambling (judol) and personal interests.
