2 Singaporean Illegal Meat Transport Vessels in Kepri Also Carry 18 Other Types of Goods

JAKARTA - The Deputy Head of Investigation I of the Riau Islands Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, AKBP Paksi Eka Saputra, said two boats carrying 70 tons of illegal frozen meat from Singapore also carried 18 other types of goods.

The types of goods carried by the two ships were known, after investigators finished counting the goods carried by the two ships at Sekupang Port.

"So in addition to frozen meat, there are other goods he brought. We have identified and counted a total of 18 types," said Paksi at the Kepri Police Headquarters, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

The mid-level police officer explained that the items brought were such as balpres, dolls, bicycles, wheelchairs, drums, and many other types.

For the type of meat carried, he said, in addition to beef, there is also pork, and chicken meat.

All goods have been moved from the ship to storage. Including meat stored in a third-party cold storage, as evidence.

"For the value of these goods, we are still conducting data collection," he said.

Sub-Directorate I of the Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the North Sumatra Police arrested two 113 GT capacity boats carrying various illegal goods from Singapore, including frozen meat of around 70 tons.

The two ships, namely KM Sukses Abadi 02 and KM Sukses Raya, were secured by the Investigation Team of Sub-Directorate I of the Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the North Sumatra Police on Friday (23/1) in the waters of Moro District, Karimun Regency.

Paksi said his party had been hunting for the ship for six days. Dispatched 12 personnel, sailing in the sea which was very rough due to the North wind season in the Kepri region.

The two ships departed from Moro carrying fish to Singapore, then returned again carrying goods suspected of violating the Trade and Customs Law.

"The way this ship entered Indonesian waters, its AIS was turned off. This makes it difficult for us to detect," he said.

After conducting reconnaissance, the presence of the ship was finally detected while unloading at the Moro Port.

Then the ship was taken to Batam for further inspection. Both ships arrived at Sekupang Port on Sunday (25/1) at 22.00 WIB.

The dismantling of the ship's cargo took up to two days, and used three refrigerated cars (storage) to transport the 70 tons of illegal frozen meat.

Paksi said his party would officially release a detailed disclosure of the case next week.

"Just wait next week, we will release the details, because it is still in the investigation process," he said.
