Rampung Dibangun, 19 Unit Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih Beroperasi Penuh
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that 19 units of the Red and White Fishermen Village (KNMP) had been completed and were fully operational.
In phase I of the development of this KNMP, the government targets as many as 65 KNMPs to be built by May 2026. However, this target has been postponed from the previous target in January this year.
The Special Staff for the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for Public Relations and Media Communication Doni Ismanto said that of the 65 KNMP units to be built, 19 units have been completed and the rest are still under construction with a progress of 80 percent.
"The 100 percent has 19 points and is already operational. And now the 65 is an average (progress) has reached 80 percent," said Doni in a press conference at his office, Wednesday, January 28.
Doni explained that the five KNMP were completed at a number of points, including in Toli-Toli (Central Sulawesi); Bumiharjo (Central Java); Pujiharjo (East Java); Labetawi (Maluku); Gebang Mekar (West Java), Karang Duwur (Central Java); and Poncosari (Special Region of Yogyakarta).
According to him, the construction of KNMP phase I will be pursued according to the target that has been set. However, he said, it is currently still hampered by extreme weather.
"It was called, yes (the construction). But it's like this weather, in some places it's also like Jakarta. (The problem) is the weather, the problem of access there to bring goods and so on," he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Manpower claimed that the construction of KNMP in 65 locations had absorbed as many as 17,550 workers.
Director General of Fisheries Capture KKP Lotharia Latif said that the absorbed workforce ranged from construction workers, fishermen to KNMP operational workers.
According to him, the absorption of labor will continue to increase as the facility is managed, fisheries logistics, and upstream and downstream service support.
"This increase in labor is a mandate of the President of the Republic of Indonesia contained in Astacita, especially in the creation of employment and local economic independence," said Lotharia in an official statement, Wednesday, January 7.
Latif assessed that the development of KNMP is part of the national priority for improving the welfare of coastal communities and expanding employment. Not only building physical infrastructure, but also a model for inclusive coastal economic empowerment through social engineering.
"This program is not only to build facilities such as piers, cold storage or ice factories, this is a real opportunity for coastal communities to rise economically and socially," he said.
