KPK says about Menkeu Purbaya Bakal 'Di-Noel-kan': We Only Process According to Facts in Court
JAKARTA - KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto responded to rumors that Finance Minister (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa would be Noel-ed alias become a corruption suspect like former Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Imanuel Ebenezer or Noel.
Setyo emphasized that what Noel said would not be a reference for the KPK in investigating a case.
"Gini, please look back, make sure that the delivery is in the context of whether it is in the process of trial examination or outside the trial process. Well, if we see that it is outside the context of the trial examination, yes, anything can be conveyed. We only hold according to the facts that exist in the examination process in the trial, that is the most important thing," said Setyo Budiyanto at the building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 28.
Setyo emphasized that the KPK did not target individuals or ministries in the process of handling corruption cases. The action, said Setyo, was purely based on the investigation process.
"So then if there is targeting the ministry, there is no such thing. We have never given or targeted where this is, that is, and so on, there is no such thing," he said.
"What we do in handling the case is purely based on complaints and reports from the public received by the KPK to be examined, reviewed, evaluated until it becomes the material for an investigation process," continued Setyo.
Previously, former Deputy Minister of Manpower (Wamenaker) Immanuel Ebenezer or Noel gave a warning to Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. The reason is that Noel considers that a figure of Purbaya's class can also be charged with a criminal case or be noel-ed.
"This message is for Mr. Purbaya, this. Message, Mr. Purbaya. The method is almost the same for everyone. Be careful, Mr. Purbaya. One step away, this. I got information that A1, Mr. Purbaya will be 'Noel'. Be careful, Mr. Purbaya," said Noel at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, January 26.
Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Purbaya admitted that he was not afraid to hear Noel's warning that he would be impeached.
Purbaya also doubted that he would be entangled in a case like Noel, because he had never committed a legal violation.
"Noel got the money, I didn't get the money. Oh, let it be, the important thing is that I didn't get the money. Noel got it, it seems to be, right?," said Purbaya at the Ministry of Finance, Tuesday, January 27.
