Commission III of the DPR asks the police and TNI members who abused the ice cream vendor to be dealt with firmly

Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives, Abdullah, condemned the alleged persecution of a cork ice seller, Suderajat, which was allegedly carried out by TNI and Polri officials. Abdullah asked the two to be dealt with firmly.

The incident is suspected to involve Bhabinkamtibmas Kampung Rawa Village, Johar Baru, Central Jakarta, Aiptu Ikhwan Mulyadi, and Babinsa Utan Panjang Village, Kemayoran, Serda Heri. The two accused Suderajat of selling cork ice made of sponge.

According to Suderajat's confession, he was not only accused without a clear basis, but also experienced acts of violence. He admitted that he was beaten and forced to drink comberan water by the police.

Abdullah emphasized that this action cannot be justified in a state of law. He asked the TNI and Polri to immediately investigate this case thoroughly and give firm sanctions to its members if they are proven to have violated it.

"No officer should act arbitrarily against the little people. The accusation must be based on clear evidence and scientific results, not assumptions, let alone accompanied by violence," Abdullah told reporters, Wednesday, January 28.

Abdullah, who sits on the legal commission, assessed that a firm sanction was very important so that similar cases would not be repeated and would be a lesson for all law enforcement officers.

"This firm action is important to maintain public confidence in the TNI and Polri institutions. The apparatus must protect the community, not frighten or hurt," he said.

In addition, the PKB legislator from the Central Java VI District also encouraged the victim to receive legal protection. "As well as recovery for the treatment he experienced," said Abdullah.
