Driver of Harapan Jaya Bus Becomes Suspect in Kediri Accident

Kediri - The Kediri City Police, East Java, have named a Harapan Jaya bus driver with the initials TH (33) as a suspect in a series of accidents in Kediri, involving a bus, a car and a number of motorbikes.

Head of Traffic Police AKPTutud Yudho Prastyawan said from the results of the trial that had been carried out, TH was negligent while driving and endangering others.

"From the results of the title of the case, TH has been named a suspect in this case," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 27.

TH is subject to Article 311 paragraph 3 and/or Article 310 paragraph 2 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic and Road Transport (LLAJ) with a maximum penalty of four years in prison or a maximum fine of Rp. 8,000,000.

The results of the traffic accident investigation in Simpang Empat Muning, Lirboyo Village, Mojoroto District, Kediri City, on Friday (23/1) started from the driver of the Harapan Jaya bus with the police number AG 7662 UT.

The bus was traveling from west to east and was about to overtake the vehicle in front of it. However, due to lack of concentration and not being able to control the steering wheel of the vehicle, the bus hit the back of several vehicles that were stopping.

"At that time the traffic lights were red. The bus continued straight and swerved to the right, hitting a house on the south side of the road," he said.

He found six vehicles, consisting of one car and five motorcycles that were hit by the white-orange bus.

A number of motorists were also injured. There were 11 people who were victims of the accident. The victims were evacuated under the Ratih Hospital, Kediri City, for medical treatment.

Currently, the victim's condition has also recovered. They have received medical treatment and are now out of the hospital for recovery.

"Now all the wounds are minor. We have checked and monitored them at all times for their development. Thank God they are healthy now," he said.
